Odoo 20 Vertical Modules: The New Industry Apps Coming in 2026
Odoo 20 expands the ERP platform with a whole range of new vertical modules —that is, preconfigured industry solutions that directly map the typical processes of a specific industry. New additions include Auto Repair Shop, Hotel+, Construction, Recruitment Firm, Pet Groomer, Nursing/Retirement Home, Custom Industrial Equipment, and Community Care.
Important to note: Odoo 20 has not yet been released. The official roadmap was presented in April 2026 by Luc Nailis (Product Owner at Odoo); the full presentation will follow at Odoo Experience 2026 in Brussels from September 24–26, 2026. Odoo itself describes the roadmap with a wink as a “list of things we might do”—so details may still change before the release.
In this post, we’ll show you which vertical modules have been announced for Odoo 20, what they can actually do, and for which companies it’s already worth taking a look at the new version.

What exactly are vertical modules in Odoo?
Vertical modules are industry-specific app packages that preconfigure Odoo so that typical industry workflows are immediately usable without the need for time-consuming in-house development. Instead of piecing together an industry solution yourself from over 80 standard apps (CRM, Sales, Inventory, Accounting, etc.), a Vertical already provides the appropriate workflows, fields, views, and automations.
The advantage from our experience at PixelMechanics: Implementation becomes faster, more predictable, and more cost-effective. A Vertical significantly reduces the “time-to-value”—that is, the time until a company is actually working productively with the system—because less customization is required.
Odoo has been consistently driving this industry strategy for several versions now. With Odoo 20, the portfolio is now being specifically expanded to include industries that were previously underrepresented—from skilled trades to hospitality and healthcare.
What new vertical modules are coming in Odoo 20?
According to the roadmap, Odoo 20 introduces new and revised industry solutions for at least eight sectors. Hereis an overview.
Auto Repair Shop
The Auto Repair Shop module is one of the most talked-about new verticals. It is designed for auto repair shops and service centers that want to consolidate vehicle intake, repair orders, spare parts, labor hours, and invoicing into a single system.
This is of interest to German repair shops because it allows the entire process—from scheduling appointments to cost estimates, order approvals, and invoicing—to be managed digitally from start to finish. The combination of inventory management (spare parts), time tracking (labor hours), and accounting on a single platform ideally replaces several separate, isolated solutions.
Hotel+
Hotel+ is the significantly expanded industry solution for the hospitality sector. According to the roadmap, it includes occupancy management, a channel manager (Channex) for connecting to booking portals, a revenue management system, housekeeping functions, and seasonal price lists.
With this, Odoo 20 addresses a classic pain point for small and medium-sized hotels: the synchronization of availability and prices across multiple booking channels, without expensive specialized software.
Construction
The Construction module covers the typical project lifecycle in the construction industry. This includes quotes with work items and overhead costs, project planning with a work breakdown structure (WBS) and subcontractor assignment, as well as progress-based billing.
Progress-based billing—that is, invoicing based on construction progress—is a key feature for construction companies that is often missing in standard ERPs.
Recruitment Firm
The Recruitment Firm vertical combines CRM, recruiting, and billing into a seamless process. Recruitment agencies benefit from better integration of applicant and talent data, as well as a new portal view for clients and candidates.
Additional New Verticals in Odoo 20
In addition to the solutions mentioned above, which have already been described in detail, the roadmap lists further new industry modules:
- Custom Industrial Equipment – for manufacturers of custom industrial equipment and special-purpose machinery.
- Nursing/Retirement Home – for nursing facilities and assisted living.
- Pet Groomer – for dog grooming salons and pet care service providers, featuring appointment scheduling and service billing.
- Community Care – for social and community-based care and support services.
Some of these modules are still in an earlier stage of the roadmap. The final features will only be revealed upon release.
When will Odoo 20 be released?
Odoo 20 is expected to be officially unveiled at Odoo Experience 2026, taking place September 24–26, 2026, in Brussels. Based on past experience, the final release (General Availability) typically occurs around this event in late summer/fall.
For context: The currently available version is Odoo 19, released in October 2025 at Odoo Experience 2025. Odoo is thus following its annual release cycle. Until the official launch of Odoo 20, Odoo 19 remains the recommended base for new implementations.
More Than Just Verticals: The Common Thread in Odoo 20
Even though the industry modules are the focus of this post, it’s worth taking a look at the bigger picture. The Odoo 20 roadmap draws a clear common thread through nearly all apps: simplify, automate, and embed AI where work is done.
Other announced priorities include embedded AI features (such as “Accounting for non-CFOs” or an AI-powered website builder), a redesigned mobile interface, a significantly enhanced phone/communications section, improvements to POS and e-commerce, and closer integration of Field Service and Planning. Of particular relevance to marketing and web teams: better SEO fundamentals such as structured data (JSON-LD), cleaner canonicals, and a revamped blog UI.
The vertical modules are thus not an isolated feature, but part of a strategy to further develop Odoo into an integrated, AI-powered business platform.
What does this mean for your business?
For industry-specific businesses, Odoo 20 can significantly reduce the effort involved in implementing an ERP—provided the appropriate vertical covers your core processes. Our recommendation based on numerous Odoo projects:
- Start mapping processes now; don’t wait for features. The roadmap isn’t final yet. It makes sense to document your own core processes today so you can quickly assess what a vertical covers when it’s released.
- Define a pilot area. Instead of a “big bang,” it’s worth starting with a clearly defined area (e.g., order processing in the workshop).
- Plan the migration. Anyone currently running an older version of Odoo should check the upgrade path early on—ideally via Odoo 19 as a stable intermediate step.
As an Odoo partner, PixelMechanics supports companies from process analysis through the selection of the appropriate vertical module to implementation and training. This allows you to quickly and with minimal risk leverage the added value of the new industry apps.
