HubSpot vs. Odoo: CRM, Help Desk & Marketing Automation Compared (2026)
Last updated: June 13, 2026 · Reading time approx. 7 minutes · By Michael Rohrmüller, PixelMechanics
In short: HubSpot and Odoo solve different problems. HubSpot is the stronger platform for marketing automation, sales and customer service – ideal if your company already runs an ERP and you want to attach a powerful front office. Odoo is the right choice if you want to introduce a complete business system – CRM, marketing and ERP – in one go. This comparison uses CRM, help desk and marketing automation to show which system wins in which scenario.

How do HubSpot and Odoo fundamentally differ?
The most important difference is the DNA of the two systems. HubSpot was built from the ground up as a front-office platform: marketing, sales and service around the customer. Odoo is an open-source ERP with dozens of modules – from accounting, inventory and manufacturing to CRM and marketing.
Almost everything else follows from that. HubSpot is deep but focused on the customer lifecycle. Odoo is broad and covers the entire company, but goes less deep in individual disciplines. It is the classic choice between best-of-breed (the best tool for one job) and all-in-one (one system for everything).
Who is stronger at CRM – HubSpot or Odoo?
In CRM, HubSpot wins on usability, reporting and automation; Odoo scores with its close ties to day-to-day operations. HubSpot offers a clean interface that sales teams can use without lengthy training, plus strong dashboards and workflow automation. Odoo CRM, by contrast, connects the pipeline directly with quotes, orders, invoices and inventory – an opportunity becomes an order without switching systems.
If sales productivity and clean reporting are the priority, HubSpot leads. If sales should flow seamlessly into logistics and invoicing, Odoo plays its ERP proximity to full advantage.
HubSpot Service Hub vs. Odoo Helpdesk: which help desk fits?
HubSpot Service Hub is the more mature help desk; Odoo Helpdesk is solid and inexpensive if support is not your core business. Service Hub includes ticketing, a knowledge base, customer feedback surveys, SLAs, live chat and bots – tightly integrated with the same contact record that marketing and sales use. A support agent immediately sees the complete customer history.
Odoo Helpdesk also covers tickets, live chat and a knowledge base and is well integrated within the Odoo world – for example with projects, timesheets or invoicing. As a standalone support tool it is functional but less refined than HubSpot. For support-intensive companies, HubSpot is usually the more comfortable choice; if you think of support as part of an end-to-end ERP process, Odoo serves you well.
Marketing automation: why HubSpot is clearly ahead
In marketing automation, HubSpot is significantly superior to Odoo – this is the discipline HubSpot grew up in. Visual workflows, lead scoring, behavioural triggers, A/B testing, campaign attribution and well-designed reporting cover the entire funnel. With the AI capabilities of Breeze AI, content, segmentation and follow-ups can be accelerated even further.
The Odoo marketing suite (email marketing, marketing automation, social, events, SMS) has caught up noticeably in recent versions and is perfectly sufficient for many standard campaigns. But it does not match HubSpot's depth, maturity and data intelligence. If marketing is your primary growth lever, HubSpot is the stronger machine.
When is HubSpot the right choice?
HubSpot is the right choice if your company already runs an ERP. In that case you don't need a second operational system, but a first-class front office for marketing, sales and service that connects cleanly to your existing ERP (e.g. SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, DATEV or an industry solution). HubSpot delivers the best combination of ease of use, marketing power and fast time-to-value – without touching your established ERP landscape.
In short: existing ERP + growth focus in marketing & sales = HubSpot.
When is Odoo the right choice?
Odoo is the right choice if you are going to introduce an ERP anyway. You then get CRM, marketing, help desk and the complete ERP from a single source – with one database, one interface and one licensing model. The Odoo marketing suite makes particular sense in this scenario because marketing, sales and operations work together natively, without integration effort between separate systems.
In short: new ERP planned + desire for a seamless all-in-one system = Odoo.
HubSpot vs. Odoo: head-to-head comparison
| Criterion | HubSpot | Odoo |
|---|---|---|
| Core type | Front-office platform (marketing, sales, service) | Open-source ERP with CRM & marketing |
| CRM | Very strong, intuitive, top reporting | Strong, tightly linked to ERP processes |
| Marketing automation | Market-leading, very deep | Solid, sufficient for standard campaigns |
| Help desk / service | Mature Service Hub | Functional, integrated in the Odoo world |
| ERP capabilities | None (via integration) | Complete ERP suite |
| Ideal if … | … an ERP is already in place | … a new ERP is being introduced |
Conclusion: HubSpot or Odoo?
There is no universal winner – there is the right fit for your situation. If you have an ERP and mainly want to accelerate marketing, sales and service, HubSpot is the stronger and faster solution. If you are facing an ERP introduction anyway and want everything from a single source, Odoo including its marketing suite is the economically and architecturally cleaner choice.

Frequently asked questions about HubSpot vs. Odoo (FAQ)
Is HubSpot better than Odoo?
Neither – it depends on the use case. HubSpot is stronger in marketing automation, service and ease of use. Odoo is stronger if you need a complete ERP including CRM and marketing in one system.
Does HubSpot have better marketing automation than Odoo?
Yes. HubSpot is considered the market leader in marketing automation and offers deeper workflows, better lead scoring and more mature analytics than the Odoo marketing suite.
When should you choose Odoo over HubSpot?
When you are going to introduce an ERP anyway. You then get CRM, marketing and ERP from a single source, with one database and no integration effort between separate systems.
Can HubSpot be connected to an existing ERP?
Yes. That is a typical HubSpot setup: the ERP remains the operational backbone, while HubSpot takes over marketing, sales and service as the front office and is connected via integration.
How much does HubSpot cost compared to Odoo?
Odoo is usually cheaper per user in licence terms, but also covers the ERP. HubSpot is more expensive in its marketing editions but delivers first-class marketing and service capabilities. Total cost depends heavily on modules, user count and integration needs – we are happy to run the numbers for your case.
