In short: HubSpot and Odoo solve different problems. HubSpot is the stronger platform for marketing automation, sales and customer service – ideal if an ERP is already running in your company and you want to dock on a powerful front office. Odoo is the right choice if you want to introduce a complete business system – CRM, marketing and ERP – in one go. This comparison shows you, based on CRM, help desk and marketing automation, which system wins when.

Decision between HubSpot and Odoo: scales with CRM, support and marketing symbols

How do HubSpot and Odoo fundamentally differ?

The most important difference is the DNA of the two systems. HubSpot is fundamentally a front-office platform: marketing, sales and service around the customer. Odoo is an open-source ERP with dozens of modules – from accounting to inventory and manufacturing to CRM and marketing.

Almost everything else follows from this. HubSpot is deep but focused on the customer lifecycle. Odoo is broad and covers the entire company but goes less deep in individual disciplines. It is the classic decision between best-of-breed (the best tool for a task) and all-in-one (one system for everything).

Who is stronger in CRM – HubSpot or Odoo?

In CRM, HubSpot wins on user-friendliness, reporting and automation; Odoo scores on the interlinking with the operational business. HubSpot offers a clean interface that sales teams use without long training, plus strong dashboards and workflow automation. Odoo CRM, on the other hand, connects the pipeline directly with quote, order, invoice and inventory – an opportunity becomes an order without a system change.

If sales productivity and clean reporting are the priority, HubSpot leads. If sales are to transition seamlessly into logistics and invoicing, Odoo plays out its ERP proximity.

HubSpot Service Hub vs. Odoo Helpdesk: Which help desk fits?

HubSpot Service Hub is the more mature help desk, Odoo Helpdesk is solid and inexpensive if support is not a core business. The Service Hub brings ticketing, knowledge base, customer feedback surveys, SLAs, live chat and bots – closely interlinked with the same contact record that marketing and sales also use. This way, a support employee immediately sees the complete customer history.

Odoo Helpdesk also covers tickets, live chat and a knowledge base and is strongly integrated within the Odoo world – for example with projects, time tracking or billing. As a standalone support tool, it is functional but less sophisticated than HubSpot. For support-intensive companies, HubSpot is usually the more convenient choice; those who think of support as part of an end-to-end ERP process are well served with Odoo.

Marketing automation: Why HubSpot is clearly ahead

In marketing automation, HubSpot is clearly superior to Odoo – this is the discipline in which HubSpot grew big. Visual workflows, lead scoring, behavioral triggers, A/B tests, campaign attribution and well-thought-out reporting map the entire funnel. With the AI features of Breeze AI, content, segmentation and follow-ups can be additionally accelerated.

The Odoo Marketing Suite (email marketing, marketing automation, social, events, SMS) has noticeably caught up in recent versions and is entirely sufficient for many standard campaigns. However, it does not reach the depth, maturity and data intelligence of HubSpot. If marketing is your primary growth lever, HubSpot is the stronger machine.

When is HubSpot the right choice?

HubSpot is the right choice if an ERP already exists in your company. Then you don't need a second operational system, but a first-class front office for marketing, sales and service that is cleanly connected to your existing ERP (e.g. SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, DATEV or an industry solution). HubSpot delivers the best combination of ease of use, marketing power and fast time-to-value here – without touching your established ERP landscape.

In short: Existing ERP + growth focus in marketing & sales ≈ HubSpot.

When is Odoo the right choice?

Odoo is the right choice if you want to or have to introduce an ERP anyway. Then you get CRM, marketing, help desk and the complete ERP from a single source – with one data foundation, one interface and one licensing model. The Odoo Marketing Suite is particularly useful in this scenario because marketing, sales and operational business interact natively, without integration effort between separate systems.

In short: New ERP planned + desire for an end-to-end all-in-one system ≈ Odoo.

HubSpot vs. Odoo in direct comparison

Criterion HubSpot Odoo
Basic type Front-office platform (marketing, sales, service) Open-source ERP with CRM & marketing
CRM Very strong, intuitive, top reporting Strong, closely interlinked with ERP processes
Marketing automation Market-leading, very deep Solid, sufficient for standard campaigns
Help desk / service Mature Service Hub Functional, integrated into the Odoo world
ERP functions None (via integration) Complete ERP suite
Ideal when … … an ERP already exists … an ERP is newly introduced

Conclusion: HubSpot or Odoo?

There is no blanket winner – there is the right fit for your situation. If you have an ERP and mainly want to step on the gas in marketing, sales and service, HubSpot is the stronger and faster solution. If you are facing an ERP implementation anyway and want everything from a single source, Odoo including the Marketing Suite is the economically and architecturally cleaner choice.

Does it make sense to run both?

Frequently. Odoo as the operational core, HubSpot for marketing and sales, connected through the customer record. The important decision is which system leads the customer data.

How are the two connected?

Through APIs or an integration platform. Define which fields sync in which direction, and which system wins in a conflict, before anybody builds anything.

Which is cheaper?

Odoo is generally cheaper per user, while HubSpot cost rises with contacts and marketing features. Compare over three years including implementation rather than on the pricing page.
